Hey all,

I'm curious, what is it you desire as a leader? Do you desire to be the one your team comes to with everything? To field and sort and strategize on every issue?

Or do you desire to have an empowered team? One that allows you not only the time and space to do you but also makes you shine through the engagement and investment they have in their work.

For some of you this may be a no brainer. And for others you might be cringing, feeling like the idea of not having your little hands on every little detail is just too much to let go of. No matter where you are on your current leadership journey it's all good.

As we try to lean more into our bodies and our lived experience as leaders one of the keys is learning where and how to surrender.

How do we surrender some of the control, trust the process, and empower our people so that they can step into their greatness and we can lean back?

Three quick steps that can help:

1. Ask each of your team members what most interests them - they'll be most engaged and successful at tasks they're passionate about.
2. Where can we let it be easier? If you find yourself creating processes to compensate for things that are in place and aren't working....that's a clue that we can make it easier through team empowerment or streamlining so we're only working with processes that function like they should - let's get rid of redundancy and embrace the easy slide into the pool.
3. Agree upon expectations in advance. This is your responsibility, this is how I expect you to handle it when....and this is how I will handle it when..... - bottom line: have the conversation ahead of time - let your team member know what you are relying on them for, why it's important, and how to handle it if they can't get it done.

Leadership can be a gift in empowerment and growth for us and our teams - here's to encouraging the growth of our teams and an abundance of time off as leaders!
